Teeth Bonding Katy, TX

Tooth bonding is a cosmetic dental treatment that we provide for our patients in Katy, TX. Dental bonding uses a biocompatible material that is applied to prepared teeth and then cured to the tooth’s surface. Dr. Catherine Wilder and Dr. Lauren Shepard recommend tooth bonding for patients with minor cosmetic concerns. Tooth bonding adds shape and balance to the smile with quick and efficient treatment.

The Benefits of Tooth Bonding

We use dental bonding to:

  • Repair chipped and cracked teeth
  • Reshape worn or misshapen teeth
  • Address permanent tooth stains
  • Correct the look of minor misalignment
  • Close gaps between teeth

If you have any of these dental problems, ask our team about tooth bonding. We can help determine if dental bonding or another of our cosmetic treatments is right for you.

Tooth bonding treats many of the same conditions that porcelain veneers treat, but in a temporary way. Dental bonding is completely removable and reversible, making it a treatment option even for children. It’s also ideal for patients that aren’t ready for a permanent restoration. It allows you to try things on and see if you like the look the restoration gives you. Then you can decide if the look is right for you.

Bonding is also ideal because it’s something almost everyone is eligible for. Because it’s removable, it works for just about anyone. It’s also one of the most affordable dental treatments available. Even if you’re on a budget, dental bonding is something that’s easily affordable. It doesn’t take much time, either. Bonding can easily be done in one visit to our dental office. You can go back to normal activities right away, including eating and drinking.

Dental Bonding Treatment and Care

To begin bonding treatment, we numb the mouth using a local anesthetic. Then, we clean the teeth and etch the tooth enamel to create a proper bonding surface. We then sculpt biocompatible resin material to the teeth. Once the material is in the correct shape and shade, it is cured and polished.

Bonded teeth can be cared for like natural teeth. Routine dental visits and good oral hygiene also help maintain longer-lasting results. If your bonded teeth ever chip or discolor, we can provide additional treatment for you. Additionally, if you want to try a more permanent treatment, ask us about porcelain veneers.

Porcelain veneers are similar to dental bonding but last longer. However, veneers may be more costly and usually come with a longer treatment time. Still, tooth bonding is beneficial for smaller cosmetic concerns.

It’s important to recognize that the bonding material can stain. However, it’s not responsive to traditional whitening treatment options. If your bonding gets stained, we’ll have to remove the bonding material and replace it with new that blends into your smile.

Dental bonding material is very durable, but it’s not up to the same standard as natural teeth. Try to avoid biting down directly on hard foods with the teeth that are bonded.  The material is designed to last for years to come, especially if you take care of it properly.
