Bring Out Your Smile’s Brilliance
We provide porcelain veneers as a cosmetic dental treatment for patients in our Katy, TX dental office. Dental veneers close gaps between teeth, cover chipped or cracked teeth, and brighten stained teeth. Our veneers consist of ultra-thin porcelain ceramic shells that we bond to the front of your teeth. We craft these custom dental veneers to blend in seamlessly with your natural smile.
Dr. Lauren Shepard and Dr. Catherine Wilder bring a caring approach to the cosmetic needs of our patients. When creating a cosmetic treatment plan, they take each patient’s budget, dental history, current concerns, and future goals into account. Tailor-made dental treatment ensures high-quality and long-lasting results.
The Porcelain Veneer Process at Katy Smile Design
We first perform a complete evaluation to make sure that porcelain veneers are the best choice for you. Next, we prepare your tooth or teeth for the porcelain veneer. The dentist removes a small amount of tooth structure to make room for the veneers during this step. Porcelain veneers should be smooth and flush to blend in with the rest of your smile.
Then, we take impressions of the prepared teeth to send to a dental lab. There, master ceramicists custom-make your veneers based on those impressions. They color-match the veneers to the shade you desire so that they match the rest of your smile. Sometimes, we fit you with a temporary restoration while we wait for your final veneers.
When your permanent veneers are ready, you’ll come back into our office. The dentist will fit them to your teeth and make any small adjustments. When you’re happy with the results, we will permanently bond the veneers to your teeth.
What Do Porcelain Veneers Treat?
Porcelain veneers are a favorite dental restoration because they can treat a variety of cosmetic concerns. They cover the entire front and sides of your teeth. If you have a broken or chipped tooth, a veneer can cover it and give the appearance of a complete tooth back. This is also ideal if you have a misshapen tooth or one with some defect, improving both look and function.
Certain types of tooth staining and discoloration aren’t treatable with traditional whitening techniques. A tooth that’s been injured by trauma or stained with medication isn’t going to respond to traditional whitening solutions. We color-match porcelain veneers to the shade of white you desire so that they blend in with the rest of your smile. Since they cover the whole tooth, they completely hide any discoloration.
Every porcelain veneer we provide should fit perfectly in your smile, making it look just like a real tooth. This includes the size and shape of the tooth. We want it to look natural, for people not even to realize that it’s a dental restoration. Furthermore, you can fill any gaps between your teeth and still have a natural look using veneers.
Porcelain Veneer FAQs
Take a look at the answers to the most frequently asked questions about dental veneers and treatment. This is a great place to start if you are considering veneers.
What is porcelain veneer treatment like?
To begin treatment, we clean the teeth and remove a small portion of the tooth enamel. We do this to ensure that the veneers properly adhere to the teeth. Then, we take dental impressions and veneer specifications to a dental lab for fabrication. Once the veneers are complete, we will check their fit and color. We will then bond the veneers to your teeth permanently.
How much are porcelain veneers?
The material used, the size of the tooth, where the tooth is located, and how many teeth are treated all impact the cost of your treatment. We will thoroughly examine your smile and discuss your treatment plan with you. Our team will also review your insurance options with you for the cost of your care.
What are the benefits of porcelain veneers?
Because veneers are made from thin materials, they easily adhere to teeth and do not look bulky. Our veneers are crafted from porcelain ceramic, a stain-resistant and durable material. We can color-match veneers to brighten the smile or blend in with existing teeth.
Compared to other cosmetic treatments like dental bonding, porcelain veneers are longer-lasting. Veneers require few repairs and can last for many years with the right care.
How many porcelain veneers can I get?
Patients can receive a single dental veneer to around eight to ten veneers. This is because veneers typically treat teeth in the front of the mouth. We recommend dental crowns or tooth bonding for patients with damaged molars or cracks and chips in the back of the mouth.
Can porcelain veneers be whitened?
Unfortunately, porcelain veneers cannot be whitened after they have been placed. The good news is that porcelain veneers are stain resistant, so they will maintain their shade forever without staining yellowing or staining. We recommend that patients whiten their teeth before placing veneers so that their veneers are matched to their desired tooth shade.
How long do porcelain veneers last?
Porcelain veneers are meant to be permanent. Over the years, porcelain veneers typically only require minor repairs or maintenance. Scheduling biannual visits, maintaining a healthy diet, and keeping up with your at-home oral hygiene routine lengthens the life of your dental veneers.
